UPCOMING | FASHIONING WONDER: A CABINET OF CURIOSITIES
February 19 – April 20, 2025
This inventive exhibition provides the first in-depth exploration of the fascinating connections between cabinets of curiosities and fashion. Also known as wunderkammern in German, cabinets of curiosities can be traced back to the early 16th century and were precursors to the modern museum. The nearly 200 garments and accessories, almost exclusively selected from MFIT’s permanent collection, are inspired by the breadth of objects collected within the cabinets. Learn more.

UPCOMING | ALL THAT GLITTERS...
February 26 – March 23, 2025
All That Glitters… explores surfaces that shine, focusing on themes of material production, social and financial values, and conservation. This exhibition, conceived of and organized by graduate students in FIT's MA Fashion and Textiles Studies program, examines not only the bright side of these materials, but also their darker side–including their environmental impact and their use in protests, such as "glitter bombing." PANTONE’S 2025 COLOR OF THE YEAR IS MOCHA MOUSSE
"This is the first time in the 25-year history of Pantone’s color of the year that they've chosen a shade of brown, which is kind of a big deal. I admit, my mind went immediately to comfort eating," declares fashion correspondent Vanessa Friedman. Maybe there's something in the color's name, Mocha Mousse, that is giving food vibes? Maybe? 🤷🏽♀️ But does the Pantone color of the year actually reflect any reality? Read this gift NYTimes article to find out.
