Welcome to the E-Bulletin. We hope you find this information helpful.
Thank you for entrusting your care to us.
Where to Find Updates on the COVID-19 Vaccine
We are working closely with the state of Massachusetts and our health care partners to ensure that eligible staff and patients will be included in the early stages of distribution for the COVID-19 vaccine. At this time, we believe cancer patients will be among the early groups to get the vaccine, but we don't yet know when that will be. We are hopeful that supplies will be available starting in early 2021.
We know that early vaccine supplies will be limited, so we may not have details on a vaccine distribution plan to eligible patients until February or later. Your care team will be able to provide more details when we have them, and we will update our COVID-19 vaccine page as more information becomes available.
Seasonal Reminder: No Gifts of Homemade Food
This holiday season, please remember that our Dana-Farber staff cannot accept gifts or donations of homemade food, such as baked goods or snack mixes. This restriction is aimed at helping prevent the spread of infection. The only food items allowed onsite must be individually packaged and portioned, from a facility that is licensed for food preparation.
If you’d like to express your appreciation to your care team, please consider instead writing a brief note or card of thanks. Such messages from patients and families are valued and appreciated by our staff. We thank you for your help.
Forget to Return Your Location Badge?
When you visit Dana-Farber for an appointment, we'll give you a location badge to wear during your visit, and ask you to please return it at check-out or give it to a nurse before you leave. If you forget to return your location badge, you can drop it in any U.S. Post Office mailbox. The badge will be mailed back to us at no charge to you. If you'll be coming back to Dana-Farber within a few days, you can also return it at that time.
Thank you in advance for helping us to ensure we have enough devices to best manage the flow of patients in our clinics.
A Reminder About Patient Companion Limits
At this time, most adult patients are currently not allowed to bring anyone with them to their appointment at Dana-Farber. This is to protect the health and safety of our patients and staff. Please call your care team before your appointment if you have questions.
We know that this restriction is difficult for our patients and their loved ones, and we don’t take it lightly. This limit is critical to the physical distancing requirements needed to keep us all safe.
For the latest updates about our companion policy, please visit our COVID-19 patient information page and click on "our revised visitor policy."
Holiday Music from Project STEP and The Friends
The Friends of Dana-Farber usually invites staff and patients to enjoy holiday cheer in person during performances at the Institute by young musicians from Project STEP (String Training Education Program), an organization focused on music instruction for talented young musicians that identify with historically underrepresented groups in classical music. This year, the performances have gone virtual and you can find them here:
We hope you enjoy the performances. The Friends of Dana-Farber and Project STEP wish you a happy holiday season!
