HDR, Water/Wastewater Designer |
HDR is seeking a Waster/Wastewater Design Engineer. Job duties include creating detailed designs of water and wastewater treatment systems and collection systems, preparing plans for water and wastewater systems, writing specifications, analysis and studying-level reports for water and wastewater treatment distribution and collection systems, determining appropriate design methods, equipment sizing and selection, and conducting quality control reviews of completed designs. The NSF REU Site at the University of South Alabama: Interdisciplinary Research to Address Microplastics in Gulf Coast Regions is recruiting 10 undergraduate students interested in a 10-week research experience in beautiful Mobile, Alabama in the summer of 2025. The objective of this REU Site is to cultivate a positive attitude among undergraduate students toward the detection, measurement, and remediation of microplastics in a coastal region, while also fostering the education of the next generation of engineers in sustainable practices. CEOE Undergraduate Conference Scholarship |
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering will offer up to $500 per scholarship application for junior and senior students enrolled in a major in CEOE to present at a conference. A preliminary proposal, breakdown of expected costs, justification and letter of support from a full-time CEOE faculty member are required. Scholarship Opportunities |

SMART scholars, through the Department of Defense (DoD), offers scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students currently pursuing a degree in one of the 24 STEM disciplines. SMART scholars receive full tuition, annual stipends, and guaranteed employment with the DoD after graduation. The scholarship is due December 15. Additional information is available here.

The American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) North Central Jersey Chapter is offering scholarships for the upcoming school year. Last year, 3 scholarships were awarded, and all 3 were awarded to Stevens civil engineering majors, so please consider applying if you meet the requirements. The application deadline is December 10. The International Concrete Institute Metro New York Chapter Scholarship |
The International Concrete Institute Metro New York Chapter has officially opened their scholarship applications.
Two students will be selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship. Last year, a Stevens civil engineering major was awarded this scholarship. The deadline is November 18. Additional information is available here.

Professional Seminar: Civil Engineering, Oh the Places You'll Go
|
This seminar will showcase a variety of Ms. Mazzolla’s civil engineering projects from New Jersey, around the nation, and even internationally. Projects will focus on the variety of work performed by civil engineers on a project, and the challenges of balancing and working with multidisciplinary teams.
Rebecca D. Mazzolla, P.E. is an Assistant Vice President in the Water Resources Group at WSP, located in Morristown, New Jersey. Rebecca has been with WSP for over 14 years and has over 20 years of experience in water resources and civil engineering projects. She has both a Bachelor and Master of Engineering Degrees from Stevens Institute of Technology, and Professional Engineering licenses in NJ, NY and MD.

The Hugo Neu Corporation Sustainability Seminar Series, organized by the MS program in Sustainability Management, is an effort to connect our students to professionals in the field of sustainability. This is a weekly series sponsored by Hugo Neu Corporation and jointly sponsored by Geosyntec Consultants. Cosponsors are Brown and Caldwell, Lozier Inc., The Catalyst Group, and H2M Architects and Engineers. The seminars happen every Tuesday between 5–6pm via Zoom. In August, Engineers Without Borders completed their project assessment trip. A total of five Stevens students, including two from CEOE had the opportunity to participate in this trip to Peru. EWB is working on expanding their project team and looking towards project implementation. If you are interested in joining or learning more, please visit the website here.
