The NSF REU Site at the University of South Alabama: Interdisciplinary Research to Address Microplastics in Gulf Coast Regions is recruiting 10 undergraduate students interested in a 10-week research experience in beautiful Mobile, Alabama in the summer of 2025. The objective of this REU Site is to cultivate a positive attitude among undergraduate students toward the detection, measurement, and remediation of microplastics in a coastal region, while also fostering the education of the next generation of engineers in sustainable practices. The Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering will offer up to $500 per scholarship application for junior and senior students enrolled in a major in CEOE to present at a conference. A preliminary proposal, breakdown of expected costs, justification and letter of support from a full-time CEOE faculty member are required. SMART scholars, through the Department of Defense (DoD), offers scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students currently pursuing a degree in one of the 24 STEM disciplines. SMART scholars receive full tuition, annual stipends, and guaranteed employment with the DoD after graduation. The scholarship is due December 15. Additional information is available here.

The American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) North Central Jersey Chapter is offering scholarships for the upcoming school year. The International Concrete Institute Metro New York Chapter has officially opened their scholarship applications.
