As you may know the senior center has shut down its doors temporarily on 9/5/2025 to prepare to our move to our new forever home.

Rose City Dog Show - free! 
This was a lot of fun last year and it’s hard to argue with free. See the different 
breeds and watch the dogs run obstacle courses. Lunch options are available on 
site but for healthier/cheaper you may want to pack your own.

Martin Luther King Day.

January 22nd Thursday 9:30-2:30pm 
Officer’s Row Ft. Vancouver - free! 
We’re gonna try this one again. I’ve contacted the Historical Society to ensure 
there aren’t any special events this day. Tour is scheduled at 10 and will be docent led. Afterwards we’ll grab lunch in downtown Vancouver.

Special Trip: Tour of Barbur Location 
Join us to see the progress at the future site of Neighborhood House on Barbur 
Boulevard.

Oregon Historical Society - free with local ID 
Current exhibits include a look at Hwy 101, the Yasui family, & 20th century 
lesbian feminism, as well as the permanent exhibitions of Oregon history. 

January 29th Thursday 10:30-3:00pm 
Danner Boot Factory Tour - free!
A Portland workwear company founded in 1932. Participation is limited to the first 
5 people to sign up. Tours last about 1hr15min and may be loud. Participants must wear closed toed shoes and safety glasses will be provided. Lunch afterwards in Alberta district.

Puppet Museum -free! 
Come check out one of only a few museums in the nation dedicated to the history and preservation of the art of puppetry. Museum opens at 2pm, We will grab lunch beforehand in the Sellwood District. 

February 18th Wednesday 11:30pm-2:30pm 
Lunchtime Concerts at The Old Church - free! 
The Orchid Trio is a Portland-based string trio with a mission to share an 
appreciation of chamber music performance and collaboration. Its members 
consist of violinist Siying Ge, violinist Deborah Shutser, and cellist Quinn Liu. 
We will grab lunch in NW Portland after the performance.

February 19th Thursday 12pm-3:30pm 
Police Forensics Lab - free! 
CSI: Portland Edition! Tour scheduled for 1pm in Clackamas. The lab analyzes
fingerprints, DNA, trace evidence and more offering a fascinating glimpse into
forensic science.

February 25th Wednesday 6:30pm-9pm 
Lakewood Theater - free! 
The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. The play, based on Williams' own 
life, explores themes of illusion vs. reality, escape, and the painful dynamics of 
family. This became a major success and established Williams as a famous 
playwright.

February 26th Thursday 10:00am-2:30pm 
OMSI - free but can be extra for the special exhibit 
New exhibit has not yet been announced. I will update as more details become 
available 

Trips will resume on Monday March 16th.

Alex Chiu brings our new Barbur Boulevard building to life, adding the finishing touches to a mural that reflects the heart of Neighborhood House and the community we serve.

Things are finally coming together at our new building on Barbur Boulevard. This new building represents so much more than a move. It is a place where neighbors can feel supported, respected, and at home. We've partnered with local artist Alex Chiu and the Portland Street Art Alliance to create a mural that faces Barbur Blvd. And there's more to come! Another mural and more fun additions are on the way, so stay tuned.

Our upgraded Senior Services Program has moved from the Multnomah Arts Center to our new home on Barbur Boulevard. Here's an inside look at the new space.

Here's a sneak peek at The Center 55+ living room. Our Senior services program is moving into a welcoming, comfortable space for connection, rest, and community.

The Center 55+ reception area is ready to greet neighbors with warmth, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

We cannot wait to open our doors and welcome neighbors. Our new home will allow us to serve more people and expand our programs. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook, where we will be sharing new details each week.
