#SOULSunday: Upcoming Events and Deadlines

We had such a blast getting to talk to so many of you at the Student Leadership Recruitment Fair this past week. If you didn’t have a chance to stop by, there are still plenty of opportunities to learn more about the SOUL position. The Orientation Student Coordinators, Maura Goins and Denisse Contreras, will be tabling in the Armstrong Student Center on Wednesday, November 20 from 2:30 - 3:30 pm. Additionally, we will have our last information session on Thursday, December 5 at 7:00 pm in the Farmer School of Business, Room 1006.

As a reminder, the application deadlines for the 2020 SOUL position are just around the corner. The priority deadline is Sunday, December 1st at 11:59 pm, and the final deadline is Wednesday, January 8th at 8:00 am. Please be mindful of these deadlines when asking references to fill out recommendation forms on your behalf, and when filling out your application. Applying by the priority deadline will allow you to know your application status ahead of winter break.

Application Tips of the Week

My advice is to give responses that are unique to you as an individual. Sure, it’s important to be relatable to incoming students, but showing a genuine experience that someone else doesn’t have is going to make you stick out in a good way!”  - Kate Freeman (2019 Orientation Student Coordinator, 2018 SOUL)

Don’t worry about trying to set yourself apart from other people on your application. Instead, if you just try to convey who you are in the truest possible way, then that alone will set your application apart. - Joseph Burtzlaff (2019 SOUL)

SOUL Trivia

Have you ever heard of SOUL Coffee Catch-Up?

SOUL coffee catch-up is a really awesome opportunity facilitated by Orientation and Transition Programs once a month during the academic year. As a SOUL, you have the opportunity to participate in coffee catch-up both during and after your time as a SOUL. This is a really great way to get together to connect or reconnect with your teammates, as well as SOULs from across different years of SOUL teams.

I always love going to coffee catch-ups just to check in and see how everyone is doing. The school year can get really busy and it becomes more difficult to see your teammates on a regular basis. It’s so nice to have this time set aside to be together and catch up on life. I love hearing what other members of the SOUL family are doing around campus. These are definitely some of the highlights of my semester.
- Maura Goins (2020 Orientation Student Coordinator, 2019 SOUL)
