Dear Wine Road Friends,
June 13 is a special day for the Sonoma County Wine Library. It’s Millie Howie, our founder’s, 100-year birthday anniversary. We invite you to remember and honor the memory of Millie with us that day with a “Toast to Millie” on the Millie Howie Patio, just outside of the Wine Library at the Healdsburg Library. We’ll meet at 5pm, for Korbel Champagne cheers and share stories and memories of Millie, the “patron saint” of the Wine Library.
Millie worked tirelessly to promote our region, our wineries and, with the help of other like-minded locals, created the Sonoma County Wine Library at the Healdsburg Library. She campaigned tirelessly and her passion bore fruit – a wonderful collection of books, research material, labels, posters, maps and more, all focusing on wine and grape growing.
Most importantly for all of us in the Wine Road, Millie started with a handful of wineries back in the 1970s in order to market our area and bring visitors to our tasting rooms. She also wrote a wine column, Wine Words, for 30 years in the Healdsburg Tribune among other publications.
To abide by library policy and ABC policy, we are unable to provide free alcoholic beverages. We’re asking for a $5 donation, or more if you can, which will go directly into our Millie Howie Century Fund in support of the Wine Library. https://sonomawinelibraryassn.org/events/
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon at the celebration.
Cheers - Julie Pedroncelli St. John, ~ President, Sonoma County Wine Library Association
