Tips for Grads: Increasing productivity in an online world

Career Development
Whether you like it or not, online learning has been the new norm for most of the world this past year. While some of us thrive in this type of environment, for others it’s not as easy. Here are a few tips on making the most of your classes and keeping productive throughout the spring semester.
Create a plan. Give yourself attainable goals backed by firm deadlines to hold yourself accountable. Then add in those important dates and deadlines to your calendar and set up recurring blocks of time for studying in the weeks prior.
Build a support system. If you need help holding yourself accountable, you might find it easier to keep on track with the help of your family and friends. They might also be able to take on responsibilities to help you better prioritize your time.
Create a learning environment. Multitasking may seem productive, but it’s not conducive for learning. Create or find a space that allows you to focus on your school work and not become distracted by television, roommates, or household chores. Also, make sure you have the necessary tools, whether that’s a cloud-based memory system such as Google Drive, a webcam, or other online conferencing tools.

But before you make that decision, it’s a good idea to sit back and think through your options. It’s important to consider more than just salary, but also benefits, commute, work-life balance, and values amongst other things.
While making this decision can feel overwhelming, SuccessWorks has a guide to help you through the process of evaluating whether or not the position is right for you and then how to negotiate your offer.
