The Department of Social Work welcomed 13 BSW and 36 MSW students to the social work field. These 49 students completed their degrees during the Summer. These students completed their final field placements across Indiana. Sample field sites included: Lifestream Services, Inc., The Youth Opportunity Center, Hillcroft, IU Health, Indiana Department of Child Services, Boner Fitness and Learning, Oaklawn Elkhart System of Care, Addiction Coalition of Delaware County, BY5, Firefly Children and Family Alliance, and Meridian Health. The Department of Social Work Launches New Programming
The Indiana Commission for Higher Education and the Council on Social Work Education approved adding a distance education option to the
Bachelor of Social Work program. The Department of Social Work will launch the new BSW Online program in the Spring of 2023. We are excited to provide an accessible program option to adult learners. This will also allow individuals from across the globe to earn a degree online from Ball State University. We would like to thank the Division of Online and Strategic Learning for their ongoing support of these efforts. Learn more.
In addition to the launch of the Online BSW, the MSW program is expanding to include programming at the Ball State Indy campus. The Department of Social Work will pilot courses at Ball State Indy this academic year, with the launch of a permanent cohort of students there in the Fall of 2023.
Together, these programming options will make degrees for Ball State University more accessible and expand our footprint as a leader in social work education. A special thank you to our faculty and staff for their tireless efforts in being visionaries.

Morgan Lamberton
After graduating with my BSW in 2018, I returned to Evansville, Indiana where I served as a program coordinator at Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana. I worked with 200 high school students in a youth-led leadership program, Teen Advisory Council (TAC). Through this program, the students developed their servant leadership skills, planned collaborative projects and events with their peers and local organizations, and encouraged civic responsibility within their council.
In the Fall of 2019, I returned to Ball State to start my Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education. After finishing my master’s, I joined the University of Evansville’s Alumni and Engagement team as the assistant director of volunteer engagement. In this role, I connect students, alumni, and community members to meaningful service opportunities with the university. When working with students, I find myself frequently relying on the incredible foundation of skills and experiences the BSW program offered me.
