Opportunity to Recycle

It's our first e-newsletter of 2024 and all multifamily communities should have received the annual mailer reminding multifamily property owners and managers of Oregon's annual Opportunity to Recycle requirements:
  • Provide recycling service
  • Educate residents at least annually
We are here to help you right-size your service, provide signage, and help educate residents about how to recycle properly. Request resources using our online multifamily order form or contact us to request our assistance.

Do you manage communities outside of Clackamas County? See our list of regional multifamily contacts throughout the tri-county area who are ready to help with your waste prevention, reuse, and recycling efforts.

Master Recycle Course Comes to Clackamas County

Are you (or your staff or residents) curious about how recycling works? Interested in learning more about composting, waste reduction and how to make your own, less toxic, cleaning products using household ingredients?
Learn from the experts. Become a resource in your community. Make a difference.
The Master Recycler spring course is being offered in Clackamas County. Join a cohort over seven Wednesday evenings to learn from the experts. Then volunteer 30 hours to inspire action in your community.
Date/Time: 7 Wednesdays: April 10 - May 22 6 - 9p, plus 2 Saturdays (April 20 and May 11) 8a - 2p
Location: Clackamas County Development Services Building - 150 Beavercreek Rd. (Rm 115), Oregon City
The deadline to apply is March 13 at noon.
LIMITED TIME - Disposal opportunity for large, unwanted household items

We have a one-time unique opportunity to help multifamily residents dispose of large unwanted household items.
While funding lasts, we will help coordinate, promote, and cover the cost of a large dumpster for residents to dispose of couches, mattresses, furniture, and other large, unwanted, unusable items. We require property owner/manager support for the event and request flexibility in the timing of the event. It is also important to note that not all communities will be eligible to participate due to on-site space constraints.
To request an event for your community, please contact us and provide:
  1. Community's name and address
  2. Unit count
  3. Why you'd like to participate in the event (describe the community need)
We also offer customized flyers for residents on how to properly dispose of large unwanted household items on their own. Email us to get started.
Think Repair Before Despair - Find a Repair Fair Near You

Is your beloved [insert item] not working? Does it sadden you to think of having to toss it? Don't fret, Clackamas County Sustainability, community repair volunteers, and Master Recyclers are here to help!
Bring a broken item to a local repair fair. Experienced fixers will attempt to repair or mend your broken item, and you may even learn how to do the fix in the future. There are no guarantees your item will be repaired, but in some cases, repairers are at least able to diagnose an issue and offer unbiased advice.
Help create a culture of repair and keep items from going to waste unnecessarily. Learn more at www.clackamas.us/recycling/repairfair or see the list of Clackamas County's 2024 repair fair dates and locations.
Do you have fixing skills? Would you like to volunteer at a future Clackamas County Repair Fair? Contact us today to get connected.
