LRF ENDS 2014 AS TOP FIVE CALIFORNIA OWNER
Thanks to over 300 active partners, LRF finished in the top 5 in starts in California for the 4th consecutive year. Obviously, starts only shows how big the company has become since 2002. With 20 wins and over $800,000 in earnings, including a per start average of $8,065, LRF has also become one of the top earning owners in California as well. "Being one of the biggest owners in California is a real tribute to our partners," said LRF Managing Partner Gary Fenton. "Without them, there is no LRF."  The future also looks very bright for LRF in 2015. LRF also has a potential star in the making as recent maiden winner, the CA Bred Sheer Pleasure, will make her next start in the $200,000 California Cup Oaks on January 24. Finally, Salto Del Indio is set to start this Saturday in the Grade II $200,000 San Pasqual Stakes at Santa Anita.
2YO SHEER PLEASURE WINS DEBUT IMPRESSIVELY
LRF's 2YO CA Bred Sheer Pleasure broke her maiden in impressive fashion at Los Alamitos on December 19th.  The widening 6.5 length victory earned the Birdonawire filly a 9.5 Thorograph sheet figure and prompted an immediate class hike into the $200,000 Cal Cup Oaks on January 25th. "Wow!" said LRF Managing Partner Billy Koch. "I'm so thrilled for our partners. We had a sneaking suspicion she would be a nice filly. It was yet another great job by Phil "The Magician" D'Amato and his team for having her prepared to fire and fire big." Purchased privately from breeder Madera Thoroghbreds in co-ownership with John Ransom, Sheer Pleasure is another prime example why it pays to own a California bred.
2014 CLAIMING FUND PROVES SUCCESSFUL AGAIN
LRF's "one of a kind" claiming fund partnership ended its fifth year with another eye-catching performance. With five wins from 24 starts (21%) and $157,689 in earnings, the 2014 edition ranked only behind the 2010 campaign in both categories. Even better, the fund will continue into 2015.  "What is unique about our approach is we don't give away horses at the end of the calendar year," said LRF Managing Partner Gary Fenton. "We still have two competitive horses and will continue to race them for this fund." Overall, LRF's claiming fund has won 26% of its 106 races and finished in the money 56% of the time. Look for the 2015 edition of the Claiming Fund to launch in early February.
