Shakespeare will be turning 451 this month, and we are in the mood to celebrate! Join Nashville Shakes for this beloved annual tradition, as we celebrate the birthday of the Bard with an afternoon of festivites. From music to crafts to the popular Biggest Balcony Scene Ever, there's something for everyone—including birthday ice cream provided by Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream! William Shakespeare himself will even be in attendance! Here is a taste of what to expect: Come dressed in your Shakespeare best! Prizes will be given for Most Creative, Best Couple, and Best Young Shakespearean. The Sixth Annual Biggest Balcony Scene EVER will take place at 3:15 pm. If you've always dreamed of playing Romeo or Juliet, here's your chance! Everyone present will play Romeo or Juliet in a mass recitation of the famous balcony scene. Download your edited script here. We will also have printed copies on hand. The popular music of Shakespeare in the Park 2014 production As You Like It and Winter Shakespeare 2015 production Twelfth Night will be performed by Stan Lawrence (Music Director, As You Like It) and Rolin Mains (Composer, Twelfth Night) in the 2nd floor courtyard. Strut your Shakespeare during Shakespeare Karaoke! Have you got a fun monologue or scene? Do you improv Shakespeare with your friends? Have you written a song about Shakespeare? We want you to perform! An opportunity to speak Shakespeare with William Shakespeare himself! And ... Ice Cream provided by Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream and birthday cupcakes!
