It is a great time to be in Maverick Country, as The University of Texas at Arlington has a lot to celebrate this month. On April 14, we held the ribbon-cutting for our new state-of-the-art School of Social Work/College of Nursing and Health Innovation Smart Hospital building. This facility sets a new standard of collaborative, interdisciplinary teaching and research excellence and brings enhanced technology to our learning spaces. I want to personally thank everyone who joined us for this event; it was wonderful to be among such strong supporters of the UTA community.
Our faculty and staff have been hard at work this past month, receiving new research grants that will support our community, partnering with the city in various ways, and welcoming Indra Nooyi, former Pepsi CEO, as she concluded our 2022-23 season of the Maverick Speakers Series. She offered great insight into her leadership experience and encouraged our students to stay connected with UTA.
As they prepare for the semester’s end, UTA seniors are excited about the upcoming spring commencement ceremonies. This semester, the ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 12, at Globe Life Field in Arlington. I invite you to come out and support our new graduates and welcome our newest alums as they become Forever Mavericks.
