Fall 2023 delivered another CONHI commencement for the books. On Friday, December 15th, more than 1,600 degrees were conferred to undergraduate and graduate students in CONHI’s Department of Nursing and Department of Kinesiology. Congratulations to all our graduates!

In December, President Jennifer Cowley announced that UTA will be featured on an upcoming episode of The College Tour, a popular TV series that showcases the vibrant stories and experiences of students from colleges and universities worldwide. The episode includes a CONHI student story and a look at the new Smart Hospital.
The episode will be available to stream on Amazon Prime in February 2024, but you can get a sneak peek now.

SPORTS NUTRITION EXPERT TACKLES FIRST IRONMAN TRIATHLON
|
For wheelchair athlete Tyler Garner, clinical assistant professor of kinesiology at The University of Texas at Arlington, a recent Ironman Triathlon—2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run—was a challenge too irresistible to pass up.
Adaptive sports are nothing new for Garner. The UTA alumnus is a former Movin’ Mav wheelchair basketball player. They’ve provided an opportunity to meet and compete with “really extraordinary” athletes along the way. Read more here

Maverick Grad: 'At UTA, You Have
No Choice but to Be Successful'
|
For Kiana Lacy, crossing the commencement stage will mark more than just earning her doctoral degree from The University of Texas at Arlington. It will be the completion of a journey against all odds.
Thirteen years ago, Lacy completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UTA’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Shortly after, a rare neurological condition robbed her of her vision. Instead of walking the stage at fall commencement, she was in the middle of a three-month hospital stay recovering from several surgeries. Read more here
