Happy Monday, everyone, and welcome to the second installment of the Spring, 2025, CHDCM newsletter!
With the drop/add deadline in the rearview mirror, the semester has truly begun in earnest, and I hope that all of you are finding your classes rich and rewarding—whether you are teaching or taking them! As you’ll see from all the entries in this newsletter, there is already a great deal going on within the College this semester, and even more percolating for later in the Spring and early Summer! One thing I’m excited about is already coming up this week: the kickoff for this year’s edition of our CHAMP mentorship program, which connects undergraduate students in Communication, Media, and the Arts with alums working in the field. This year’s version of the program, which has been running for over a decade, is our largest yet—but we’re still not satisfied. In fact, we’re looking to grow it further, and seeking to expand across our College…so stay tuned for more as we continue toward warmer weather!
With that, I encourage you to read on, and catch up on the news and notes from our College community. I hope that the warmer weather this week is making Monday a little brighter, and a bit easier to get through, and I wish you all a fantastic couple of weeks—

The School Psychology Leadership Association of Seton Hall (SPLASH)
The School Psychology Leadership Association of Seton Hall (SPLASH) represents the interests of graduate school psychology students and aims to heighten the awareness of and advocate for issues relevant to the professional field of school psychology.
SPLASH Members are a part of the MA/EdS in School Psychology program. During these students' first year, they are automatically enrolled.
SPLASH serves as an avenue for students to collaborate with faculty, other candidates and professionals in the field. Graduate school psychology students meet twice a semester to network, discuss mutual interests, share professional experiences, etc. They publish a newsletter twice a year. SPLASH adopted the Polar Bear Plunge in 2007 as their service activity which raises funds for Special Olympics. SPLASH is also involved in recruiting various professionals in the field to speak on a variety of topics associated with school psychology.

Moe Moffatt is a junior Secondary Education and Theatre double major who is originally from sunny southern California. Alongside all their work in the secondary education program, Moe is an active member of the Theatre Council and a student ambassador who represents their major at pirate preview events.
You may have seen them grace the SHU theatre stage in roles like: “Alice Murphy” in Bright Star, “Agnes Evans” in She Kills Monsters, or as “The Wicked Witch of the West” in the Wizard of Oz. And soon, they’ll be working backstage as the stage manager for SHU theatre’s production of “Months on end” by Craig Pospisil.
But that’s not all! Singing and acting are among their primary passions in life and Moe plans to be an active participant in the theatre arts until the day they graduate and beyond. Perhaps one day with some luck, you might see them grace a Broadway stage, until then, keep an eye on SHU Theatre to follow their journey.
