Michael Nelson, director of the UTA Clinical Imaging Research Center, is using negative-pressure pants—like those worn by astronauts—to improve cardiac stress tests performed with MRI. The patent-pending technology marks a major advancement in heart imaging, and UT Arlington is one of just a few places in the world exploring it.

Architecture researcher Mahmoud Bayat is developing an AI-powered digital twin framework for disaster response. The project aims to create a real-time adaptive system that optimizes evacuation planning by integrating live environmental data, infrastructure vulnerability assessments, and transportation modeling.
