LCLC and LCSL volunteer faculty will advertise LCSL programs TODAY in SCE from 11AM to 1PM. Our table is near the UIC Bookstore entrance: stop by to say hi! We aim to engage students and let them know that they can take Hindi, Polish, German, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, French, Chinese, Greek, Lithuanian, Russian, Korean, Portuguese, Latin, and Arabic here at UIC. Registration starts today, so please spread the word to your students that languages (including any other languages they may speak) make them stronger candidates for jobs and internships. Go languages!
Collaborations with the Writing Center: last week, language peer tutors and Writing Center tutors had a meet and greet. They shared their experiences with tutoring and discussed how the skills they learn and practice as tutors tie in with their career goals. Thanks to Vainis Aleksa, Writing Center director! Recruiting peer tutors and language learning assistants for Spring 2025: The Spring 2025 application is live! Please encourage Arabic, French, German, Italian, and Spanish students in 104 or 114 or any upper-level class to join the Peer Tutor Apprenticeship program for Spring 2025! Tutors serve our 100-level students and get hands-on job experience that can make them stronger candidates for internships and jobs. Plus, peer tutors/LLAs take our upper-level classes, so that also helps our enrollments in 200- and 300-level classes. Have students in mind? "Being multilingual has not only expanded my linguistic abilities but also broadened my mindset. It has enabled me to appreciate and comprehend different viewpoints and cultures with greater ease.
