Weeks of Welcome leaders will serve as the backbone of the incoming student process at the University of Memphis. At the heart, WoW Leaders provide a friendly face and a helpful hand to help new students transition to the UofM. This leadership opportunity supports the mission of the University of Memphis and Student Leadership and Involvement to provide programmatic support to Weeks of Welcome in August. The primary role of a WoW Leader is to co-lead a small group of 15-25 incoming students during the Weeks of Welcome. WoW Leaders are expected to be present for all parts of WoW, engage in welcoming dialogue, and invest in the incoming students.

Scheidt Distinguished Speaker Series features Aubrey Bergauer for Marketing and the Concert Experience: 21st Century Lessons Not Just for Millennials Everyone's talking about how to attract younger audiences, but one orchestra's findings show that the music itself isn't the problem, and the solutions aren't just for Millennials or Gen-Z. These results of the California Symphony's Orchestra X project on user experience went viral with tens of thousands of hits, and ultimately received attention from The Wall Street Journal, who wrote, What is most striking about these changes is that you don’t have to be under 35 to appreciate them...they’re common-sense responses to the unmet needs of potential concertgoers of all ages. Hear how the orchestra implemented changes based on their findings, how their concerts began selling out because of it, and how organizations today can take real (and easy!) actionable steps to do the same. More about Aubry Bergauer Hailed as “the Steve Jobs of classical music” (Observer) and “the Sheryl Sandberg of the symphony” (LA Review of Books), Aubrey Bergauer is known for her results-driven, customer-centric, data-obsessed pursuit of changing the narrative for the performing arts. A “dynamic administrator” with an “unquenchable drive for canny innovation” (San Francisco Chronicle), her leadership as Executive Director of the California Symphony propelled the organization to double the size of its audience and nearly quadruple the donor base. In 2019, the side hustle became the main hustle as she moved her consulting practice full time and has now served dozens of clients across artistic disciplines, geographies, and budgets up to $300M. Bergauer’s ability to cast and communicate vision moves large teams forward and brings stakeholders together across the institution, earning her “a reputation for coming up with great ideas and then realizing them” (San Francisco Classical Voice). Her drive to see opportunity in place of unsolvable challenges or irreversible trends produces different results than the norm, secures new revenue streams, and galvanizes audiences and donors. Bergauer builds strategic plans and organizations, leverages technology and new media to elevate and extend the brand, and prioritizes diversity and inclusion to create a stronger product on stage and off. A graduate of Rice University with degrees in Music Performance and Business, her work and leadership has been covered in national publications including Entrepreneur, Thrive Global, Wall Street Journal, and Southwest Airlines and Symphony magazines, and she is a frequent public speaker, including TEDx, Adobe, and industry conferences inside and outside the arts.

TigerLink powered by Handshake is a student career hub that includes the job board used by the University of Memphis to post Student Employment positions. Student Employment includes regular student employment (RSE) positions for those who are not eligible for federal work-study, and federal work-study (FWS) positions for those who are eligible. To apply for a position, students need to complete an application on TigerLink. Student Employment positions can be filtered under the “Jobs” search by clicking “On Campus Student Employment”. Before applying, students should be in good academic standing and enrolled at least half-time, which is 6 undergraduate/law hours or 5 graduate hours. The individual departments make the hiring decisions, and each department may have different GPA requirements. Applying for a position does not guarantee a job offer, and positions are competitive.
