A NOTE REGARDING TUFTS' STUDENT GRIEVANCE POLICY
June 22, 2023

Dear Student,
We're writing to provide you with information regarding Tufts University’s Student Grievance Policy.
Our records indicate that you are enrolled in one or more online courses during Summer Session I 2023. We hope you enjoy your coursework, and we invite you to be in contact with Student Services if we can ever answer a question or help address a concern. We also want to make sure you are aware of the procedures for filing a complaint and/or appealing a decision made by an administrator, faculty, or staff member at Tufts should the need arise while taking your online course(s).
To that end, Tufts maintains a Student Grievance Policy that outlines basic appeal procedures for all student complaints. After exhausting the University's complaint resolution procedures set forth in this policy, any complaints regarding on-line or other distance learning programs (other than grades or student conduct violations) may be made as follows:
  • For students residing in Massachusetts, through the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education general consumer complaint form: https://www.mass.edu/forstufam/complaints/complaintform.asp.
  • For students residing outside of Massachusetts in states that are members of the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement ("SARA"), pursuant to the appeal process set forth at https://www.mass.edu/foradmin/sara/complaints.asp. A list of SARA member states can be found at https://nc-sara.org/directory.
  • Any complaint against the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as to whether it is abiding by the rules of the SARA Manual may be reviewed by the Regional Compact of SARA or by the National Council for SARA in accordance with the SARA Manual.
