Falling Back with Forward Momentum
As we say goodbye to October, we say hello to the roller coaster leading to the semester’s end — full of twists, turns, and those final pushes to the finish line. With daylight saving time behind us, longer nights ahead, and just 21 days until fall break, it’s the perfect time to buckle up, lean in, and keep momentum strong. Don’t forget to cast your vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5, and let’s make the last few weeks of the semester count!

How to Commercialize Your Research |
Academic medical centers traditionally focus on publications and external funding to advance knowledge and treatment. Prioritizing research commercialization can yield substantial financial returns. Success in this pathway requires identifying viable inventions, protecting intellectual property, securing development funding, and navigating regulatory processes, along with building strong relationships with capital sources. We’re excited to discuss this intellectual property pathway with UMKC’s scientific community.

Tabulated 31 October 2024 at 4:00 pm, the official UMKC faculty candy vote yielded Reese's Peanut Butter Cups as the favorite! However, it failed to reach a majority of votes due to the close second of Twix. The second part of the ballot took a ranked choice voting approach where Reese's had a majority of the vote (78%). In an upset move among the candy party vote and seat share, Gummy Fruit won with Gummy Bears and Sour Worms having a clear lead. For the curious, Debra used the d'hondt formula. Reese's might be the most popular individual winner, but we must include gummy bears and gummy worms on the list. Thank you to everyone who voted.
