Officer Skip Baker
Skip Baker Answers the Call for Passengers in Need
Officer Skip Baker with the Port of Portland Police Department was nominated by a PDX traveler.
"I was traveling home after a birthday visit with my son when I realized I had lost my phone – most likely in my son’s car after he dropped me off. I went to Officer Baker for help, and without hesitation, he used his phone to try reaching my son.
Officer Baker guided my son from Gresham back to the airport and stayed with me until my phone arrived. He even called ahead to my airline to ensure I could still board my flight and waited with me as I went through security for the second time.
My phone holds all my contacts and two work email accounts for the hospitals I serve in St. Louis. Officer Baker didn’t have to take the time, but his care, compassion, and exceptional service helped me through a very stressful situation. I cannot thank him enough and want his superiors to know what an incredible team member they have – someone truly dedicated to serving others."

Roadway at PDX
What's New with PDX Next: Upper Roadway and Restroom Updates
Upper Roadway: Expect impacts on the north end of the upper roadway on Monday, Feb. 16, through Friday, Feb. 20, as well as Monday, Feb. 23, from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tree deliveries to the north node construction area require closure of the upper road north sidewalk and narrowing to two travel lanes.
Restrooms in B and C Concourses: On Tuesday, Feb. 17, new restrooms near the entrance to Concourse B will open. The all-user, men’s, and women’s restrooms near Gate C3 will permanently close to facilitate the build-out of the C3 holdroom.

Be Knowledgeable: Don't Skip Employee Screening
You may have noticed that TSA and Covenant Security periodically hold surprise screenings in the B/C and D/E security bypasses, as well as other public-to-secured access points.
If you're approaching one of these areas and see a screening taking place, you must follow through with the process. Sure, it's tempting to turn around, but that’s not allowed, even if you’re in a hurry. Failure to follow through may be labeled as refusing screening and could result in a security violation or even in badge suspension. Thanks for your help keeping PDX safe and secure.

Celebrate Heart Month with a PDX Lifesavers AED/CPR Class
Imagine for a moment that you encounter a medical emergency – at home, at work, or on the go. Would you know how to help?
If not, take advantage of Heart Month in February and build your confidence and skills with a CPR/AED class on Thursday, Feb. 26, led by our Portland Airport Fire and Rescue experts. Can’t make the class or found out it's already full? Even if you’re not trained in CPR, anyone can use an AED – just follow the simple audio and visual commands on the machine.
Goodbye, Pop Up Shops: Missionary Chocolates
and Orox Leather Co.
Love is in the air…and so is chocolate. Missionary Chocolates has been spreading sweet, inclusive treats at PDX all year, and their pop-up residency is wrapping up on Saturday, Feb. 28 – part of our rotating program that gives new local makers a chance to shine. Swing by for a last taste of vegan, dairy-free, nut-free chocolate magic pre-security at Country Cat, visit their NE Portland shop, or head to their website. The next round of PDX pop-ups is coming soon – get your hearts (and taste buds) ready!
From Oaxaca to Oregon to PDX, Orox Leather Co. has shared handcrafted leather goods – and the story of their family and expert artisans – with travelers passing through our airport. As their pop-up residency comes to an end, we’re so grateful for the craftsmanship, care, and connection they brought to PDX. You can still find select Orox items in Concourse C at the Timberline Lodge shop, at their NW Portland store, or on their website at any time. New PDX pop-ups are coming soon, but this one will hold a special place – don’t miss the discounts as they close out this chapter and prepare for what’s next.

It's not every day you get a sky-high view of (de)construction at PDX. Dave Stanton with the Port of Portland pulled out his tallest ladder for this peak perspective of bypass demolition underway on the south side of the airport.
