More Ways We Celebrate Exceptional Service
At PDX, we love celebrating the moments that really shine – the ones that reflect what we’re all about: being friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful.
Last week, we talked about the PDX People Customer Service Awards. But guess what? That’s just one of the ways we recognize the amazing work you do. Here are some other ways we acknowledge great service:
Annual Excellence in Service Awards
Each year, we throw a special event to celebrate standout employees, selected by their teams to be honored as customer service "superstars." It’s a night to remember: Winners are invited to a festive evening with managers and colleagues to highlight their hard work over the past year.
PDX People Appreciation Week
Every September, we dedicate a whole week to celebrating you! Think food trucks, music, swag, and good vibes all around.
On-the-Spot Recognition
Sometimes great service happens in the moment...and we’re ready for it! Managers have envelopes with $10 gift cards to PDX shops and restaurants, ready to hand out on the spot to say thanks when someone goes above and beyond.
Want to learn more about PDX People recognition? Check out the recognition programs and read about past winners on the PDX People website. You can also nominate an employee who embodies the PDX People values and serves as a shining example of great customer service for next quarter – submit a nomination now.

There will be designated work zones in those areas, and the seating areas on either side of the garden will also be closed.
Concourse E Detour: For evening travelers arriving at Concourse E gates, there is a temporary detour in place through Friday, May 2, on weeknights from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. There may be work on Saturdays if there are delays due to weather on weeknights. Help Create a Large-Scale Public Artwork for PDX
Artist Kate Newby has been commissioned to create "The Sound of Trees," a 76-foot-long mural that evokes Oregon’s forested landscape through a richly textured surface of glazed ceramic tiles. You can help bring the work to life by participating in "Touch Glass," an urban foraging workshop led by Newby in partnership with Portland Institute for Contemporary Art and the Regional Arts & Culture Council. During the workshop on Sunday, May 4, participants will collect discarded glass, which will be embedded into the clay tiles and fired, becoming a permanent part of the mural. Please bring your own gloves or protective equipment for use during urban foraging and RSVP at the link above.

Spring Into Oregon Stories at the PDX Hollywood Theatre
If you work at PDX and have a grey or red badge, make your way to the Hollywood Theatre's microcinema on Concourse C to catch the latest lineup of locally made short films! This season’s collection highlights Oregon’s unique stories, including a visually stunning look at how cranberries are harvested in the small coastal town of Bandon. Fun fact: Cranberries rank among the top five exports from the Port of Portland's Terminal 6, making this film a sweet tribute to one of Oregon’s most flavorful global goods. Other films explore everything from local artists and filmmakers to slices of Pacific Northwest culture you won’t want to miss. Can’t make it to the microcinema? You can also watch some of the lineup online.

Celebrating National Volunteer Week at PDX
Last week, we celebrated National Volunteer Week, a time to recognize the incredible impact volunteers have in our community and around the world. We’re giving one more round of applause to our amazing volunteers with two short videos highlighting the Volunteer Information Program, plus another spotlighting all three fantastic volunteer teams at PDX. Read more about these programs and all they’ve accomplished.

PDX in Pictures
Last Thursday’s Bring Your Child to Work Day was a blast, packed with curious kids, cool demonstrations from the teams that keep PDX running, and yes...llamas and alpacas that stole the show. A huge shoutout to everyone who shared skills and stories, and to all the families who joined in the fun. Thanks for making it a day to remember!
