UPCOMING | PICK UP THE PIECES
June 12 – July 12, 2026
Museum Lobby
The 2026 MFA Illustration Visual Thesis Exhibition represents the culmination of three years of graduate study for the FIT MFA candidates. During their final academic year in the program, each graduating student develops and executes a unique body of work that showcases the technical exploration, artistic growth, academic research, and professional focus developed during graduate study. The 2026 exhibition showcases the MFA Illustration cohort's focus on visual narrative, with an emphasis on traditional and digital artwork, painting, picture books, and comics.

UPCOMING | DOLL DRESSING
September 16, 2026 – January 3, 2027
Special Exhibitions Gallery
This exhibition will explore the ways in which dolls have influenced fashion and dressed appearance. Doll dressing takes many forms, ranging from the appeal of youthful baby doll dresses, to the 2D quality of "paper doll" looks, to the influence of creepy dolls on fashion. It encompasses clothing and accessories, hair and makeup, and even movement and gestures that take their cue from dolls. Learn more about Doll Dressing.

8 OUTRAGEOUS FASHION TRENDS THAT WENT MAINSTREAM

CHARLES DICKENS WAS QUITE THE DANDY. NOW HIS CLOTHES ARE ON DISPLAY IN LONDON
"A rare glimpse into the wardrobe of one of Britain's finest writers is on display in London – and it suggests Charles Dickens was something of an OG style icon."
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN COQUETTECORE GROWS UP?
One of the reasons why the dark, rage-fueled girlhood aesthetic is so ubiquitous now is the current state of the world. "This is a particularly difficult time to be female, and to be female at an age when you can become pregnant," states Dr. Valerie Steele to Elle magazine. "There are a lot of anti-female forces at work right now, politically. It's a little bit more of a fraught time to be a young woman."
