Love was in the air at The Trove!
We had an amazing time collaborating with University Centers for the 3rd Annual Make and Mail Valentine Cards event at Price Center East Ballroom! Students stopped by The Trove table to craft heartfelt messages, and our staff was there to help them send out their love.
Â
Attendees also enjoyed stickers, prizes, and free postage stamps provided by University Centers, making it easy to send their handmade Valentine’s cards. Thank you to everyone who joined us—your creativity and enthusiasm made the event truly special!

IPPSter Student Spotlight: Leading with HeartÂ

| Brooke Clements
Student Mail Lead
We're excited to feature Brooke in this issue! Currently a third-year General Biology major at UC San Diego, Brooke brings a unique blend of healthcare aspirations and leadership experience to campus. Growing up in the Bay Area, she developed an early interest in medicine that continues to shape her academic journey. Her dedication to serving the campus community began with a position at the dining hall, where she learned valuable lessons about teamwork in a fast-paced environment. This experience proved instrumental in her current role as a student lead at Student Mail Services, where she thrives in guiding her team through challenging periods - particularly during winter quarter when they process up to 15,000 packages weekly!
"The most rewarding aspect of my job is leading a student team and ensuring everything runs smoothly," she shares. The mentorship structure at Student Mail has been particularly impactful, providing her with clear guidance that she, in turn, passes down to her team members. One of her most valuable lessons has been mastering the ability to stay composed under pressure, particularly during peak seasons.
Â
Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Brooke's creative spirit comes alive through a diverse array of artistic endeavors. She finds joy in molding clay into ceramic pieces, bringing warmth to others through her crocheted creations, and capturing special moments through the lens of her camera. Crocheting specifically has become her cherished sanctuary – a meditative practice that helps her unwind and restore balance after the demands of managing thousands of packages and maintaining her rigorous biology coursework.
Looking ahead, she plans to take a gap year to work as a phlebotomist in a medical office before pursuing her dream of becoming a Physician Assistant, with aspirations to work specifically in a radiology clinic. "My passion for becoming a PA stems from helping people and being part of something that delivers real change," she explains. When asked about what she can't live without, she quickly mentions three essentials: her car for exploring San Diego's beautiful scenery, her pillow for much-needed rest, and her beloved pets - her dog Smokey and two cats, Bear and Kelly, who mean the world to her.
Â
Family holds a special place in her heart, serving as a constant source of inspiration. "We hit some hard times... but they've been so supportive and have been there for me," she reflects with gratitude. Their presence in her life has not only helped her navigate difficult moments but has also shaped her empathetic approach to leadership and her aspirations in healthcare.
Â
Brooke’s journey is a testament to resilience, leadership, and creativity. From guiding her team at Student Mail Services to expressing herself through art, she embodies the balance of hard work and passion. As she prepares for the next chapter in her career, her dedication to helping others and her drive to make a meaningful impact continue to shine. We’re excited to see where her path takes her next and wish her all the best on her journey to becoming a Physician Assistant.
