New Voices “The Future European Security Order” Workshop
On June 13, 2025, Bridging the Gap and the Transatlantic Policy Center at American University hosted the New Voices in National Security workshop, “The Future European Security Order.” Expert panels featuring Sara Bjerg Moller, Susan Colbourn, Brittany Gittus, Zoltán Fehér, Suzanne Freeman, and Gesine Weber spoke the new reordering moment in European security, including the prospects for Europe to manage its own growing defense burden, the impact of a reduced role of the United States in Europe, and the ongoing challenge of responding to Russian aggression. There was also a featured conversation at the dinner with Ambassador Julianne Smith, former United States Permanent Representative to NATO. The workshop was convened by BTG Senior Director Jim Goldgeier and Co-Director of the Transatlantic Policy Center Garret Martin, with support from New Voices Rapporteur Alayna Cicchetti. Cicchetti also developed this conference summary.

BTG 20th Anniversary Party
Bridging the Gap's 20th anniversary party was held in Washington DC at the Duke in DC Center in June! It was a wonderful evening spent connecting with program alumni, panelists, and BTG supporters of the last 20 years. Many thanks to those who could join us! We recognize it was not feasible for many to attend. We would very much appreciate gaining your insight on ways BTG can evolve to meet the needs of our network by completing a quick input survey here!
