Regional Swimming and Diving Memo

Good afternoon.

The postseason is quickly approaching, so there are a few things I wanted to bring to your attention.

Regional Manual Now Online: The Regional Manual is now online in the Swimming and Diving Coaches & Administrators site on the IGHSAU website and can also be accessed by clicking here. Please be sure to read through everything. Many protocols and questions are addressed in the manual. There are also email addresses in the manual for you to send your diving sheets, along with the emails of the regional  Hy-Tek operators in the event you need to make changes after the entry deadline.

Regional Entries Available in Bound Monday, October 28: Regional entries will be available in Bound on Monday. To access the entry form in Bound, log-in to your account and click the IGHSAU logo on the colored column on the far left side of your page. The entry deadline is 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6. Please contact me if you have any issues accessing your entries.

Para-Swim Entries: Para-Swimming is available for students to take part in. The entry form is now on the website and can also be downloaded by clicking here. The student-athlete must compete in the regional meet to compete in the state meet. Events available are the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke. Student-athletes may enter in two events. The deadline to enter a student is Wednesday, November 6 at 4:00 p.m. Medals will be awarded at regional meets while medals and a team trophy will be distributed at the State Meet.

All Times Must Be in Bound: Be sure your times are valid and correct in the Bound website. All times must be in Bound for verification. Any time not in Bound will be issued as No Times in the Hy-Tek meet files.

Team Photos Needed: I would like to have team photos for the state meet parade of teams. If you could send those to me at jasoneslinger@ighsau.org. I would appreciate it if I have this information by Wednesday, November 6.

A note about electronic devices: During the course of the regular season, there were some questions about when electronic devices can be used in swimming and diving. Here is what you need to keep in mind: Devices that collect and transmit data from the swimmer to an external recipient are permissible because they are potentially beneficial in terms of both athlete performance and well being. Devices that provide information to the athlete during competition are not permitted and, when detected, result in severe penalties for both the competing athlete and team personnel.

State Diving Judges: All Diving Coaches that have divers that qualify for the state meet will be considered as a judge on the state diving judges' panel. If you are a diving coach that does not have a diver qualify for the state meet, but would be interested in serving as a judge, please contact me at jasoneslinger@ighsau.org. The diving referee and I will select the coaches for the judging panels.

Best wishes to everyone down the stretch.
