Inspire positive change
For the past 20 years, UM-Dearborn students and alumni have helped inspire positive change throughout southeast Michigan by volunteering on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. About 400 UM-Dearborn students turned their tassels and received their diplomas last month during the fall commencement ceremonies. Both keynote speakers

'Innovative' leader joins CEHHS
UM-Dearborn's College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS) recently welcomed a new leader. Janine Janosky joined the university on January 2. Janosky previously served as vice president and senior fellow for the Center for Community Health Improvement at Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron.
Dr. Deb talks gospel
Deborah Smith Pollard knows her share of gospel music. That's why the UM-Dearborn English professor was invited to serve as a panelist at the American Voices Festival recently held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Coming to your city
UM-Dearborn's Alumni Relations team plans to visit Grand Rapids and Washington, D.C., in the coming weeks to reconnect with graduates.
On January 18, Alumni Relations will host a reception before the UM-Dearborn men's basketball team takes on Aquinas College in Grand Rapids.
On February 2, UM-Dearborn graduates are invited to the Iron Horse Taproom in Washington, D.C., for a Detroit Red Wings watch party.
