JULYPortal is LIVE!

We are excited to announce the release of JULYPortal! JULYPortal is the new replacement website for the Client Portal and will provide you summaries on your book of retirement plan business with JULY. With this new technology, you'll have the same functionality as before, but we've added the ablility for you to see and respond to action items, send us messages directly, and view the satus of important projects. Here are a few features:

Dashboard – Summary information on your plans with drill down functionality into individual plans.
Action Center – A place for responding to requests to preform plan administration.
Project Center – Obtain information related to specific projects and processes on your client's plans.
Message Center – To allow for secure communications with your Client Service Manager.
File Manager – Access to plan files and reports, including a new feature to see recent files.

Don't Miss These Important Sales Deadlines

JULY has established key dates to guarantee plan setup during our peak season. These deadlines are intended to ensure we uphold service quality and meet enrollment commitments and regulatory deadlines. We require all completed and signed setup paperwork returned to us by the following dates in order to set up the plan by the end of 2019.

Takeover Plans – December 3, 2019
New Plans – December 17, 2019

Does Your Client Want a Safe Harbor Plan Effective January 1, 2020?
Remember that for a plan to be safe harbor effective January 1, 2020, a safe harbor notice must be sent generally 30 days prior to the start of the plan. For those using the 30 day requirement, JULY must be notified by November 15, 2019, in order to have the safe harbor notice and plan document prepared and delivered by December 1, 2019. For those electing to use a “reasonable” notice period less than 30 days, the December 3 and December 17 deadlines above apply.

Does Your Client Want a 2019 Plan?

Remember that plan sponsors must sign a plan document by December 31, 2019. A common scenario might be to want a 2019 profit sharing plan with salary deferrals commencing in 2020. If you have questions about the timing, specifically regarding when deferrals can become effective (the plan documents must be signed before withholding for salary deferrals can commence).

JULY has released a new streamlined retirement plan solution called PremierPath401k. The solution, custodied by BNY Mellon’s Pershing (“Pershing”) Retirement Plan Network, includes a dynamic 3(38) investment lineup managed by Envestnet Retirement Solutions with integration into the Envestnet platform, allowing for advanced research, integrated analytics, and expert advisory support. Reminder: 2019 Plan Amendments & Restatements

Following is information on upcoming required amendments and restatements for retirement plans. While IRS clarification and details are pending for each of these, we want to keep you aware of what's coming down the pike. JULY clients will receive updates as well as invitations to schedule complimentary design consultations as soon as more details are available.

Defined Benefit and Cash Balance Plan Document Restatement – If you maintain a Defined Benefit or Cash Balance Plan, JULY has begun the required plan document six-year restatement project. Please be on the lookout for specific email communications regarding the process for completing your Plan’s restatement.
403(b) Plan Document Restatement – JULY has begun the required 403(b) plan document restatements and will be sending them to clients in the near future.
Defined Contribution Interim Required Amendments – Based on the latest IRS guidance, an interim amendment is expected to be required by December 31, 2019. When IRS issues additional guidance, and when all changes have been announced, JULY will prepare the Interim Required Amendments that will be needed to protect the favorable tax-qualified status of your plan.

We follow IRS updates closely and look forward to communicating more information as it becomes available.

Important Compliance Deadlines

Here are some important dates that will affect many calendar-year retirement plans over the coming months.

December 2 – Deadline to provide annual notices required for Safe Harbor, Qualified Default Investment Accounts or Automatic Contribution Arrangements.
December 10 – Deadline to provide completed distribution forms to JULY to ensure processing of distributions prior to year-end, including all required minimum distributions (RMD or 70½)
December 15 – Extended deadline to distribute the Summary Annual Report to participants and beneficiaries receiving benefits.
December 31 – Deadline to distribute ADP/ACP refunds for the prior year.
