Once a year, women from A Widow’s Way vote on where to go for a vision trip where they can be of service. Recently in May, 13 women from the United States made the long journey to Armenia to meet with women who had lost their husbands in the 2021 war they experienced with Azerbaijan. Together, 20 local widows, 28 of their children, and 10 Young Life support staff and interpreters showed up at YL's Pioneer Camp for a weekend of sharing and healing. Art therapy, small groups, personal care, prayer, and one-on-one conversations late into the night created bonds between these women that defy distance and language challenges. The U.S. group taught them Western line dancing, and they learned traditional Armenian dances in return! In a world of war and uncertainty, we know that God is the ultimate Counselor and Healer. We are so thankful for these brave women turning pain into purpose.

Piper hosting a local giving circle in Atlanta

Piper with her Aunt Piper (her namesake) at The Getaway last spring

PIPER MILES was first introduced to Young Life by her parents early on in Atlanta and fell in love with the mission because of the relationships she built, including her faithful Young Life leaders. Growing up she attended YL's Family Camp and in high school served on Work Crew at Trail West in Colorado. As someone who currently invests her time and career in fundraising for pediatric oncology and hematology, she knows the power of generosity and how lives can be transformed.
Piper has described her experience with Women Who Love YL this way: "Where there is Young Life, there is community. I’m so grateful for the women who continue to act like 'YL leaders' in my adult life - the way they continue to pursue and pour into generations younger than themselves. Most recently, I have been invited into the women's giving circles to cultivate unique and fun invitations for women to be a part of kingdom work. Giving circles are SO. MUCH. FUN! They stimulate us socially, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and financially as we consider our gifts. I have experienced giving circles to bring out the best version of people. You’re guaranteed to go home having laughed and cried and wondering how you can do it again."
Piper has been part of hosting local giving circles in Atlanta and went with her Mom, Aunt and cousin to The Getaway last spring.
