Wonders & Worries Newsletter - June 2016
The Crabb Family
"There is nothing more important than family and our children, and Wonders & Worries is here to help when you need it most.”
KC Crabb was diagnosed with Stage IV throat cancer in November 2015. When their son was watching TV and heard a discussion about a person dying from cancer and he turned to his dad and asked if he was going to die, too, KC and his wife, Shannon, knew it was time to call Wonders & Worries.

Donor Spotlight:
The Quinn Family
“I like planning and seeing an event happen that will help others. I have enjoyed learning about how nonprofits work.”
– Robert Quinn

Terry and Graham Quinn became involved with Wonders & Worries in 2012 when Graham was invited by friends to participate as a shooter in the No Worries Classic. Giving back became a family affair when their son, Robert, joined the Wonders & Worries Teen Council in the fall.

Registration is happening now for the 2016-2017 Teen Council year!
The Teen Council is a partnership between Wonders & Worries and local teens in 9th - 12th grade for a year-long commitment, rooted in the idea of training the next generation of volunteers and philanthropists.

-Earn service hours by working together to organize our May family event – the Ice Cream Social

-Learn about giving back to the community through their time, talent, and resources as they plan and execute a Teen Council sponsored fundraiser for Wonders & Worries

-Develop leadership skills and learn how to advocate and raise awareness to support children through a parent’s illness

For more information, contact Lindsey Boyd, Development Director, at lindsey@wondersandworries.org or 512-329-5757.
Consider making an investment in the mission of Wonders & Worries so we can provide more professional support for children through a parent's illness.
Therapeutic Tip
Sail Into Summer
Summer is here! It's usually a time that kids look forward to with great anticipation. However, some children experience anxiety over the change in structure and routine. Learn how you can smooth the transition by creating a family calendar or by having your child make their own.

Ice Cream Social
More than 70 Wonders & Worries clients joined us for this year’s Ice Cream Social – one of our quarterly family fun events! The Teen Council did an excellent job of helping plan this year’s event. They volunteered their time the day of as well, alongside members of the Chaparral Women’s Club and two chapters of the National Charity League. Our quarterly family fun events are designed to allow families to take a break from the stress of their illness and enjoy being together in a fun, relaxing environment. It also provides families with the opportunity to meet other families in similar situations.

Sweetwater Designs
Diane McBride and Rosemary Douglass hosted a wonderful party with MK Rowins of Sweetwater Designs at Diane’s beautiful home in Lakeway. Friends enjoyed delicious treats and drinks and shopped the beautiful custom made jewelry collection with 30% of the proceeds coming back to Wonders & Worries. MK stopped by the Wonders & Worries office to present us with a check for the funds raised – over $1,000! We are thrilled that MK has decided to join the Millennium Society and will do a party every spring with a minimum annual donation of $1,000 going back to Wonders & Worries. Thank you MK and Sweetwater Designs!
