Jayden Pomeroy
Jayden Pomeroy Makes PDX the Most Magical Place on Earth
Jayden Pomeroy (she/her) with the TSA, was nominated by Jessica, a PDX traveler.
"My family and I were flying out of PDX on a trip to Disneyland. It was a stressful time as there were seven of us including my two children (ages six and one) and my 84-year-old grandmother who was using a wheelchair. We had a lot of baggage between the carry-ons, personal items, two car seats and a stroller. Plus, I had medical supplies that needed extra screening, so I was stressed out.
When we arrived at TSA, we discovered my boarding pass didn’t have my lap infant printed on it, and I had to return to the airline counter to get it reprinted. I told my family to go through and I’d take the baby and my bag of medical supplies with me as I went back to get a new pass. After getting a new boarding pass, I was exhausted and very flustered. When I got back up to TSA, I was in a panic and in tears.
Jayden was the absolute kindest person I could have ever imagined. She stopped and told me that it would be okay and to take some deep breaths with her. She said, 'You got this. You made it this far and you’re almost there!' Her kindness was something I desperately needed. I am still just overwhelmed by her friendliness and compassion towards me in such a stressful time. Please thank her for what she did for a very stressed-out mom. I will never forget her."

Be Knowledgeable: Help Keep PDX Safe and Secure
HAWKS (Helping Airport Workers Know Security) is an airport-wide program that creates a more secure environment for everyone at PDX by enlisting the support of all badgeholders as an extra layer of security in observing and reporting suspicious activity.
By following a few simple security steps, you can help protect everyone. Here are six key things to remember:
  1. Always Display Your Security Badge: Wear your badge above the waist on your outermost garment. This ensures other PDX employees will be able to recognize you and verify you’re permitted to be in the area.
  2. Close the Door: When entering or exiting any restricted area, always ensure the door is fully closed behind you. This prevents unauthorized access and keeps sensitive areas protected.
  3. No Piggybacking: Allowing someone to follow you through secure doors or checkpoints without proper authorization is called "piggybacking." Always ensure that each individual swipes in with their own credentials.
  4. Know the Rules: Stay familiar with security policies so you're prepared for any situation.
  5. Question Suspicious Activity: If you notice something out of the ordinary – like someone in a restricted area without a badge – speak up.
  6. Report It – It Might Be Part of a Bigger Picture: Even small concerns could be part of a bigger issue. Reporting helps keep PDX secure, so contact the PDX Communications Center at 503.460.4000.
Not only are you an important part of keeping PDX safe and secure, you can win $50 for doing just that! That's right, pass a challenge play or be nominated and you’ll be entered in the monthly drawing for a $50 Visa gift card.
