Nominations for PDX People Customer Service Awards Due Wednesday, July 7
Every week, we highlight an award-winning PDX People customer service story in this space. These airport employees are nominated by their peers or managers and receive special recognition for their service.
If you know someone who takes extra time to help last minute customers or brings comfort to distressed passengers, nominate them for a PDX People customer service award! Just tell us what your colleagues do to uphold our core values of being friendly, knowledgeable and respectful. Nominations are due Wednesday, July 7.
The PDX People customer service awards recognize airport employees who truly stand out as extraordinary. Missed the last virtual awards ceremony? View the event recording or read about past winners on the PDX employee website.

Security Badging, Port Police Move to New Building
You've heard about the flexible transportation improvements coming soon to PDX, but did you know that the new Rental Car Center – RCC for short – will also be the new home for several offices currently located in the terminal?
Security Badging and the Port of Portland Police will be making a move in July and we're giving you an early heads up. Starting Monday, July 26, if you need to renew or replace your badge, you'll take a new route. Instead of going to the mezzanine level at PDX, you'll now walk through the south tunnel, cross the covered walkway to the RCC and take the elevator to the fourth floor. The Port Police are expected to relocate to the third floor of the RCC on Monday, July 19.
We'll keep you posted on office openings and updated routes as move-in dates approach.
What's New with PDX Next: Short-Term Garage Closure, North Trash Node Path and North Tunnel Elevator Work
The top level of the short-term parking garage is closed through Monday, July 12, while we make minor repairs. Cars already parked on that level will be able to exit using the crossover between the short-term and long-term garages.
Now through Friday, July 9, you'll see some small adjustments to the north trash node path to make room for concrete work.
Last week, work started in the north tunnel by the elevators. While crews work on conduit in that area, they will alternate elevator closures so that one is always available.
On Tuesday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. we'll hold our monthly virtual What's New with PDX Next forum. Get the inside scoop on construction, hear the latest updates and ask your questions about PDX Next. Use this link to join the meeting tomorrow or add it to your Outlook calendar.
Looking for more PDX Next information? We're keeping you in the know on what's new over on the PDX employee website. Have questions or suggestions about construction? Email hello@pdxnext.com or call the construction hotline at 503.460.4339.

65 days of operations. 3,500 packets of sunscreen. 5,490 caring volunteers.
After five months and more than 250,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses into arms, the PDX Red Lot drive-thru clinic closed for the final time on June 19.
Thank you to all the PDX People that helped make this incredible endeavor possible. As we reflect on its success, take a moment to watch the photo montage on YouTube and   reflect with a few articles:
Hot Weather Continues: Stay Safe at Work
After a weekend of triple digits, we're expecting continued high temperatures throughout this week. Stay informed on how to be safe at work in the heat and how to recognize the signs of dehydration and heat exhaustion.
TriMet’s MAX Red Line is not in service today due to excessive heat. If you use TriMet to travel, keep an eye on their alerts page, as temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit may cause delays. Read more about hot weather and how it affects TriMet.

In early 2020, riding the shuttle from the NE Alderwood employee parking lot to the airport was a familiar start to the work day for many PDX People. Then in March, COVID-19 hit, passenger volumes decreased and airport employees were temporarily offered the opportunity to park in the unusually quiet long-term garage.
After more than 15 months, as passenger volumes increase and our parking garages once again fill up, it became time for employees to move back to the Alderwood lot. But we couldn't let the "return to normal" pass without a little celebration!
With help from our friends at Ruby Jewel, we marked the occasion with lots of warm smiles and cold treats. Thanks for your flexibility and help making this transition as smooth as possible.
