NACo, with support from the Federal Highway Administration, has issued a brief publication entitled Keeping Counties Moving: Freight Transportation as an Economic Engine.  This publication describes how freight transportation planning and investments can drive local and regional economic development and provides key best practice takeaways for county leaders through case studies in four counties, including a case study in Shelby County.  
FEMA has released the FEMA Damage Assessment Operating Manual.  This manual establishes national damage assessment standards developed from lessons learned and best practices already in use and is intended to increase the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of damage assessments by empowering emergency management at all levels with clear information and defined roles and responsiblities.  
The Comptroller's office has released a report which examines how virtual schools are funded in Tennessee.  The Comptroller surveyed all virtual schools to learn how they operate and how they are funded.  The report also examines the academic performance of virtual schools.  Click here to read the report.   Also released by the Comptroller's Office of Research and Education Accountability is a glossary of commonly used education terms, with the aim of assisting Tennesseeans in understanding more than 180 terms pertaining to education from pre-K to higher education.  Click here to read the glossary.
