| OUR Spring Scholarships
Looking for funding to support your research? The Francis Family and Parent Fund Scholarships offer $1,200 to all undergraduate student researches working with a faculty mentor. Seniors graduating in the spring semester are encouraged to apply. Please note, priority will be given to students who have completed two semesters of UROP.

The Francis Family Endowment Fund was established by John A. Francis in memory of his wife, Irene F. Francis, and to acknowledge the work of his son, John G. Francis, professor of political science at the University of Utah. The Francis Endowment Fund recognizes outstanding undergraduate researchers in the arts, social sciences, and the humanities.

| Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR)
Student applications for SPUR 2026 are now open! SPUR is a nationally competitive opportunity that gives undergraduates hands-on research experience across all disciplines from the arts to engineering— and everything in between. Students collaborate, learn, and get paid while building their resume and academic network. Don’t miss this chance, apply to SPUR!
Applications are due January 25. There will be a SPUR Application Workshop the second week of January, the date and time will be announced soon.

| Virtual Fall Symposium Poster Evaluators Needed
OUR is still looking for virtual poster evaluators for the Fall 2025 Virtual Undergraduate Research Symposium taking place on this Friday, December 5. Interested faculty, postdoctoral scholars, doctoral or master’s graduate students, or staff holding a research-focused graduate degree are encouraged to sign-up.
Poster evaluators can be eligible to be in a drawing for their choice of wireless headphones, earbuds, or speakers. Click here to sign up by this Wednesday.

Seniors are eligible to apply for the Junior Fellows Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. If selected, fellows will work as research assistants to Carnegie’s senior scholars.
If you would like to learn more about the program or how to apply, contact Alison Shimko, Associate Director for the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships (ONSC). Students MUST apply via ONCS.
