The Nelson-Kleck Family
“I felt overwhelmed with questions about what to tell the kids about my cancer. I wanted to be open and honest, but I also didn’t want to scare them or make them worry.”
When Monique was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she and her husband, Tom, were extremely concerned for their three children, Kara (12), Erik (10) and Marcella (4). Here's how Wonders & Worries helped.

Easy Meal Coordination
It can be hard to know how to help a family facing a serious illness. Dinner Elf can help! Dinner Elf provides chefs who grocery shop, cook homemade dinners and clean up.
Set up a group meal coordination page and Dinner Elf will match 10% of your group’s gift as a donation to W&W.
Host an Event for Wonders & Worries

Hosting an event is a fun way to support our work. For his 6th birthday, J
ackson asked friends and family to donate art supplies instead of buying him gifts. We were touched. Thank you!
Contact Lindsey Boyd, Development Director, to talk about how we can support your idea! lindsey@wondersandworries.org.

Therapeutic Tip: How Busy is Too Busy?
by Ali Houshmand, Wonders & Worries Child Life Staff
There is nothing wrong with school-aged children participating in multiple activities. Children do well with – and enjoy – a healthy level of structure in their daily life.

So how do parents figure out if a child is too scheduled, too busy, or stretched too thin? There’s not a black and white approach, but parents need to determine if activities are enriching the child’s life.
