Tufts Campus Life
Student Organization Social Event Registration
September 9, 2022
Dear Student Organization Leaders,
It was so great seeing many of you at the Student Organization Fair this afternoon!  We are thrilled to be starting another year with you.
As you plan for a successful year with your student organization, we are committed to giving you the information and inspiration you need to be successful and learn from your experience as a leader. To that end, we encourage you to check out the newly updated Office of Campus Life website which contains many resources and strategies for planning events and leading your organization.
There are many types of events and programs student organizations can host and each has detailed guidelines we encourage you to review. One type of student organization activity, social events, is top of mind for many organizations at the start of the year. Given that, we encourage you to carefully review the social event registration policy (which is Section X(V) of the Student Code of Conduct) and the social event registration process. The process for social events differs somewhat from the registration process used for other types of events to prompt organizations to host only events that are safe and contribute to a healthy culture. As usual, each student organization must defer hosting social events with alcohol until the organization has completed their recruitment cycle for the semester. Any event involving alcohol cannot be scheduled until the organization completes our training and registration process. This enables prospective members and new members to get to know the organization in an engaging and safe way. Social events without alcohol and other types of events (e.g., performances, community service, general interest meetings, etc.) may begin now.
If you have any questions about the social even registration policy or the process, please contact any of our offices. All of us are looking forward to working with you this year and seeing what great things you accomplish with your organization.
Sincerely,
Office of Campus Life
