Assistant Professor – Sport & Recreation Management, Hart School of Hospitality, Sport and Recreation Management – James Madison University

The Hart School of Hospitality, Sport, & Recreation Management at James Madison University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in Sport & Recreation Management at the rank of Assistant Professor, set to begin in Fall 2024. The Hart School is an affiliate academic unit in the College of Business. Lecturer in Outdoor Recreation and Park Management – University of Tennessee

The School of Natural Resources in the University of Tennessee Herbert College of Agriculture is seeking a Lecturer of Outdoor Recreation and Park Management to establish a nationally recognized program in outdoor recreation and park management. The Department is looking for a skilled educator who will cover classes in the core curriculum and provide representation on Department, College, and University committees. This appointment will begin January 2025. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching core classes including but not exclusive to introductory and mid-level courses in parks, recreation, and tourism management. INTERNSHIP Opportunities

Fall Internship – Athletic Communications Intern – NC State University

The NC State Department of Athletics is currently accepting applications for an 11-month internship (Aug – June) in Athletics Communications. The interns will report to the Director of Athletic Communications and will assist the Athletics Communications office with coverage of the university’s 22-sport varsity athletics program. The anticipated start date is August 2024 with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2024. Dates are somewhat flexible. The intern will be paid an hourly rate of $12.50 with a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Part-Time Position at the USA Baseball National Training Complex (Cary, NC) – Game Day Operations

The USA Baseball National Training Complex (NTC) opened in 2007 and since has hosted the 2011 Pan American Team, 2009 USA Baseball World Cup Team, 2008 and 2020 United States Olympic Baseball Team, and the 2008 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tar Heels home baseball schedule. This year the National Training Complex will once again serve as the host site for the National High School Invitational. Additionally, USA Baseball will hold the Collegiate National Team, 12U-15U National Teams, the annual National Team Identification Series, and various Prospect Development Pipeline events.

Temporary Outdoor Education Instructor – Reidsville, NC

NC State University’s Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center is seeking Outdoor Education Instructors for our fall program season beginning August 19, 2024 and ending November 22, 2024.

The Penn 4-H Center provides day and overnight programs to elementary, middle, and high school students on our 220 acres in Reidsville, NC. Program staff Provide instruction for nearly 20 programs in environmental science and cultural history to elementary school students in the Environmental Education Program. Topics include aquatic ecology, forest measurements, predator/prey relationships, wildlife habitats, pioneer living history, canoeing and much more. Staff also facilitate team challenges and Low and High Ropes course elements with students in the Soaring Thru Spaces program. A 2 week paid staff training is provided at the beginning of the season (tentatively Aug 19- 30) and as part of that there will also be a 3 day high ropes course training provided that staff are required to attend.

Adventure and Sport Programs Coordinator – Red Rocks Community College, Colorado

The Adventure and Sport Program Coordinator oversees and administers the daily operations of the adventure program, which includes outdoor adventure trips such as mountain biking, outdoor climbing, backpacking, mountaineering, and snowshoeing, the sports programs, special events, the indoor climbing wall, equipment rental, student development, teambuilding programming, monitoring budgets and researching vendors, maintaining records, equipment, and inventories, marketing, planning, and reporting. This position ensures compliance with risk management, safety, and injury policies and procedures. The Adventure and Sport Program Coordinator provides leadership and supervision of 15+ student employees including timesheet processing, overseeing development and assessment of learning outcomes, and coordinating the Trip Leader apprentice training program. THC – Community Liaison, Texas Main Street Program – Austin, TX

This position provides essential support to the Texas Main Street Program (TMSP) and the network of 90 communities across Texas. The TMSP is a downtown revitalization effort with more than a 40-year track record of assisting Texas communities of various sizes. This is one of several programs housed within the Community Heritage Development Division (CHD) in the Texas Historical Commission (THC).
