Halimat Ajibade Takes Customer Service Above and Beyond |
Halimat Ajibade with ABM was nominated by her team.
“Halimat is truly one of a kind. Anyone who’s had the privilege of working with her – or even just speaking with her – knows exactly what I mean. She radiates warmth, kindness, and genuine care in a way that immediately puts people at ease. She is, without question, one of the friendliest and most uplifting individuals ABM has to offer.
What makes Halimat extraordinary isn’t just her smile or her positivity – it’s the way she consistently goes above and beyond, even when no one is watching. I have personally witnessed her assisting passengers when she wasn’t even on the clock. That level of dedication is rare.

| |
She picks up trash she notices on the ground, moves carts out of the way to keep walkways safe, and helps passengers struggling with luggage by bringing their bags inside the building – all without hesitation. She stays with passengers experiencing panic attacks, offering comfort and calm until they’re okay. She steps in, steps up, and brings humanity into every interaction.
The list of incredible things Halimat does is long, but what stands out most is how naturally it all seems to come to her. Helping people isn’t a task for her – it’s who she is. She is compassion in action, every single day. ABM is better because of her, and so are the people who cross her path.”

How the PDX Brand Came to Life |
Lanyards with the new brand debuted
at the We Made it, PDX! employee event.
You might notice the newsletter looks a little different this week. That's because when the finishing touches were put on the new PDX, we saw an opportunity for our airport brand to grow right alongside it. We set out to bottle what makes this place special, ensuring the brand and the building step confidently into this new chapter together – familiar, welcoming, and unmistakably PDX.
We didn’t want this brand to feel like something handed down by an outside consultant telling us who we are. Instead, we went straight to the people who make PDX what it is every day – our community of employees and local travelers who know this place well.

Pet Relief and Restroom Closures: As of today – Monday, May 11 – the family restroom, lactation room, and pet relief area located near Blue Star Donuts on Concourse D, are closed. While there's now a new all-user restroom and lactation room in the north hall behind Portland Gear, the only post-security pet relief area is the one in the Concourse Connector near Capers. There will be a second post-security pet relief area built in the future – we'll keep you posted when that's available.

New Concessions
Opening Soon at PDX |
Are you ready for the next round of new PDX concessions? While we can’t provide specific opening dates, keep your eyes peeled for Kure Superfoods (south hall, post-security) to start welcoming customers this week, and Freeland Spirits (north hall, post-security) and Lola’s Café (also south hall, post-security) soft opening in the coming weeks.
While Freeland is familiar thanks to their kiosk, Lola’s and Kure are both figuratively and literally fresh. You’ll find breakfast and nutritionist-approved deli meals at PDX's branch of Lake Oswego's beloved Lola’s Café, and smoothies and grain bowls at Kure.
You’ll also see two more markets opening in May: Rose City Market on Concourse E and Market 503 on Concourse C. Don’t forget that many PDX shops and restaurants offer an employee discount – you’ll see more deals coming soon as these spaces get up and running.

Urban Gleaners + PDX Partnership Helps
Feed the Hungry |
Ever wonder what happens to those yogurt parfaits and sandwiches that don’t get scooped up at PDX? Environmental team intern and waste minimization pro, Maria, gives us the good news: they don’t go to waste. Thanks to our partnership with Urban Gleaners, many PDXeateries donate unsold, ready‑to‑eat food to neighbors who need it most. Since 2013, that’s added up to hundreds of thousands of meals shared across the Portland metro area. Less waste. More community. Very PDX.
