Mac Rebennack, widely known as Dr. John, changed the course of popular music starting with his 1968 debut, Gris Gris, and pushed it further with each new album, infusing his recordings with exciting new directions and influences while throwing off hits like “Right Place, Wrong Time” and “Such A Night” in his wake. We are fortunate that the music continued to pour out of him until the world lost him in 2019—five decades after we’d first been hoodooed.
The Estate of Dr. John and Omnivore Recordings are pleased to present Live At The Turning Point, a unique solo set celebrating Dr. John’s deep connection to New Orleans. Featured staples include multiple Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew songs, as well as, tracks by Lee Dorsey, Professor Longhair and classics by Mac Rebennack himself. Travel back to 1987 and let Dr. John take you to New Orleans!
