Welcome, and congratulations on beginning your journey at Vanderbilt! This is the first of a series of newsletters you will receive before arriving to campus about important information, deadlines, and events.

Steps to Access University Systems
ASAP

To ensure you are set up to receive important information and communications, you must create your VUnetID and enroll in Vanderbilt University's multifactor authentication solution.

You will receive an email from the university (noreply@vanderbilt.edu) with instructions to complete your VUnetID. View more detailed instructions and support options on the Welcome website.

Immunization Requirements
ASAP

Review the immunizations that you are required to receive before arriving on campus. Please follow the New Student Checklist for Immunization and TB Compliance for completing a Tuberculosis screening survey, submitting acceptable immunization forms, and uploading your documents to the secure Vanderbilt Student Health portal. You will not be able to register for classes until your immunization and tuberculosis documents have been received, reviewed, and approved for compliance by Student Health.

Housing Application
June 1

All first-year students live in one of the ten houses on The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons. To apply for housing, log into the Housing Portal via the Housing and Residential Experience website with your VUnetID. Once logged in, click on the Applications menu, and complete the First-Year Housing Application. Learn more about first-year student housing.

Reasonable Housing Accommodation Requests
June 1

If you are seeking accessible housing accommodations due to a physical, psychological, or other disability-related limitation, contact Student Access prior to June 1. Review the information regarding reasonable accommodations and documentation guidelines. Following a decision that a housing accommodation is needed for access, Student Access will notify Housing and Residential Experience (HRE). The HRE team will make every effort to find an appropriate and reasonable assignment as recommended by Student Access.

Roommate Requests
June 15

Vanderbilt matches first-year roommates with consideration of their responses to a short list of questions included on the first-year housing application. However, first-year students are permitted to submit roommate requests. Each student in the pair must request the other in order for the request to be considered. Please note that we cannot guarantee that roommate requests will be honored.

Log into Your Enrollment Services (YES) Portal to check your progress on several of the critical tasks and input your emergency contact information. Note it takes up to four days for changes in YES to appear within the portal.

Check your Vanderbilt email over the summer for a series of newsletters and important information about life on campus. In addition to newsletters, you will also be receiving text messages through the summer with reminders. Make sure your correct cell phone number is in the system by managing your Personal Information in the YES Portal.

First View Summer Program:

The student leaders of FirstVU and the Office of Undergraduate Education offer the First View Summer Program, a 2-week online transition program dedicated to launching success at Vanderbilt. Each First View session focuses on college readiness, and is designed to help you excel personally, socially, professionally, and academically. Each session includes perspectives from FirstVU, a student organization dedicated to the success of first-generation college students (i.e., those whose in-home parents/guardians attended a 2-year higher education institution or who have a high school education or less.)

The First View schedule includes eight 2-hour virtual sessions. The program will culminate with an ice cream social on Move-In Day (Sat., August 16), as part of the warm welcome you will receive once you arrive on campus.

Online session dates: May 27-30 and June 2-5 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CT.

Email FirstView@vanderbilt.edu by May 19 to express interest in participating in First View.

Commodore Launch:

The Vanderbilt Alumni Association invites you and your family to a Commodore Launch, a tradition of over 50 years to welcome incoming students and families to the Vanderbilt community. Join fellow students, families, and alumni to celebrate the launch of your Vanderbilt experience! Celebrations will be held throughout the summer across the globe.
