CHEESEBURGER IN PARROT-DISE: OUR BIGGEST SUCCESS YET!
What a night! With 300+ tickets sold, 50+ volunteers, 31 sponsors, 25 musicians, 100 silent auction packages, 10 ice cream flavors, 4 juicy burgers, and even 2 pirates, this year’s Cheeseburger in Parrot-Dise was truly one for the record books.
The energy was electric, the music was nonstop, the food was delicious, and the community spirit was overflowing. Best of all, every ticket, every burger, every bid, and every song directly supported the Warm Hearth Foundation’s mission to advocate, innovate, and care for seniors in our community.

CARE THAT COMES HOME
When John returned from the hospital after heart surgery, he was eager to get back to his routine—but worried about managing his recovery alone. That’s when Warm Hearth at Home stepped in. With a nurse to help manage his medications and a home care aide to make sure meals were prepared and errands covered, John found the support he needed to heal comfortably, right where he wanted to be—at home. Today, he’s back to gardening and enjoying a more independent life.
Stories like John’s aren’t unusual. In fact, most seniors say they want to remain in their own homes as long as possible. Warm Hearth at Home makes that goal a reality by providing two types of support:
Home Health: Skilled, clinical care delivered by licensed nurses and therapists—things like wound care, medication management, and physical, occupational, or speech therapy.
Home Care: Non-medical, everyday assistance like meal preparation, bathing, light housekeeping, transportation, and companionship.
Together, these services create a safety net that helps seniors stay independent while giving families peace of mind.
If you or someone you love could use a little extra care at home, call us at (540) 443-3428 or visit WHVathome.org to learn more.

HEALTHY TAILGATING: FUEL YOUR FALL THE SMART WAY
As the weather cools and Hokie spirit heats up, friends will gather for tailgates and watch-parties. This season, challenge yourself to bring both nutrition and color to your plate. A vibrant fruit bowl adds freshness and variety, while a hearty turkey chili offers a lean, protein-packed option—try topping it with Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for an extra boost. For snacking, whip up an avocado white bean dip with whole wheat crackers, or pair creamy garlic hummus with a rainbow of veggies to hit your daily goals. And don’t forget to stay hydrated—keep a refillable water bottle close by to power you through the day. With these simple swaps, your game day spread can be both delicious and nutritious!
