With the new academic year underway, I want to extend a warm welcome from the Graduate School to graduate students who are new to the Forty Acres. I hope that those of you who are continuing students had a wonderful summer. We are thrilled to have you all at UT Austin – the best place for graduate school. Each of you brings a unique perspective or life experience that enriches the community. You belong here.

As you dive into your degree program this semester, I encourage you to take advantage of life on a university campus. Attend some of the many Longhorn games, art exhibits or cultural events. On any given day during the semester, you can attend talks by thought leaders in any number of fields. Look at the various UT websites, calendars and social media accounts for disciplines that interest you! For example, the Blanton Museum of Art’s current exhibit is "Spirit & Splendor: El Greco, Velázquez, and the Hispanic Baroque.” It is free for anyone with a valid UT ID, including graduate students.
Whether you are a new or returning student, remember that the Graduate School is here to help you navigate your degree and provide resources for academics, career development and physical and emotional well-being. Learn about and take advantage of the many resources available to help your academic journey, well-being and career/professional development—including those listed below.
If you have ideas about additional information you would like to see in future newsletters, let us know. We’d love to hear from you at graduateschool@austin.utexas.edu.
Sincerely,
