As we begin a new semester and you've had a few days to settle into classes, I want to officially welcome you back to campus! These early days are a time of possibility—new ideas, new connections, and fresh opportunities to shape the months ahead. Whether this is your first semester or one of many, know that your presence and experiences matter. Our Student Services team is committed to supporting your success inside and outside the classroom, and we encourage you to take advantage of the resources, relationships, and moments that will help make this semester both meaningful and rewarding.

Pirate Tip of the Week: Start Where You Are 🌱
|
A new semester brings fresh energy and changes. If the first few days have felt exciting, overwhelming, or somewhere in between, know that all of that is normal.
|
-
Take a few minutes to check in with yourself and notice what's going well so far.
- Set one small, realistic goal for the week ahead.
- Remember that it's okay to ask questions, make adjustments, and learn as you go.
|
You don't have to have everything figured out yet. Give yourself grace and take it one step at a time.

🐾 #PiratePets
Your pet is an extension of you! If you have a pet in Pirate apparel, submit your photo here. Your pet could be featured on our #PiratePet wall of the University Center.
|
🎶 #PiratePlaylist
Please help us populate our #Pirate Playlist with your favorite fun, upbeat, and positive songs. You might hear your song played in Pirates Plaza (outside of the University Center). Please send your [clean] song requests to our Student Services Suggestion Box. This week, we added "Eternity” by Alex Warren & Gigi Perez!
|
Remember that we are stronger together. Please take care of yourself and each other.

Introducing Campus Belonging & Community |
Over the past several years, Seton Hall University has undertaken meaningful work to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion across our campuses. That work—grounded in listening, assessment, and action—has shaped how we support students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
|
As we enter the new year, the University is evolving the language used to describe this work under a refreshed framework: Campus Belonging & Community.
|
This evolution reflects a more holistic, mission-aligned approach; one rooted in human dignity, shared responsibility, and the formation of a campus culture where every member of our community can fully participate and thrive. Campus Belonging & Community builds on our existing efforts while more clearly reflecting Seton Hall's Catholic identity and the priorities of our Strategic Plan.
|
Nothing about our services, programs, or commitments is changing. All student supports, resources, reporting pathways, and community-based initiatives remain fully in place. What is evolving is how we describe this work—so that our language more accurately reflects who we are and strengthens our ability to serve our community with clarity and purpose.
|
As we look ahead, we do so with confidence and shared momentum, continuing this work through the goals of our Strategic Plan and the For All, Forever comprehensive campaign—growing together as a community grounded in mission, belonging, and care for one another.

The mission of the Center for Academic Success (CAS) is that through advising and teaching, we create a reciprocal relationship with our students where meaningful discussions are fostered. These intentional discussions around coursework, career aspirations, and personal journeys help students become lifelong learners and advocates of their own education while discovering their own identities.

"{My Professor} was very easy to reach and work with during class time and outside of class after hours. He clearly showed how to complete all assignments and gave lots of explanations on how to complete important tasks like spring registration. I would recommend him for any incoming freshmen." - SHU Student
|
- 91% of students reported that University Life increased their knowledge of campus academic resources, including academic support, tutoring, advising, and counseling.

Student Services is launching an initiative called Survey Squad!
|
Join the Survey Squad 📊 Amplify the Student Voice 📣
|
Want to help shape the Seton Hall experience? We're launching the Survey Squad, a new paid student employment team dedicated to boosting student voice, strengthening campus feedback, and driving real change.
|
As part of the Squad, you'll:
|
-
Be a survey ambassador and help create clear, relevant, student-centered surveys.
- Work with campus departments to make sure student feedback is heard loud and clear.
- Why join? Because students know students best. And your voice (and influence!) can help shape everything from programs and services to the overall campus experience.
-
If you want to make an impact, amplify student voices, and help create a culture where feedback fuels real improvements, the Survey Squad wants you.
- Be part of something new. Be the reason student feedback sparks change.
