DID YOU KNOW THESE FUN FACTS ABOUT KARLA GUINIGUNDO?

I grew up in Lewisburg, Ohio (population 1,800) but spent 7th, 8th, and 9th grades attending an international school in Penang, Malaysia.
I was the maid of honor in a wedding in a stave church in Norway, which is the only European country I have ever visited.
Visiting Mahatma Gandhi's ashram in the Indian city of Ahmedabad in 2017 was a surreal experience. I carry a piece of khadi, the homespun cloth Gandhi was often seen weaving, with me as a reminder of the power of simplicity.
Zora, my four-year-old daughter, calls me “Nanay”, which is the equivalent of “Mommy” in Tagalog, the most common language spoken in the Philippines.
Spending a few weeks in Ghana learning to make kente cloth would be my dream vacation.

Presidential Career Summit
Global Initiatives and eLearning Miami are sponsoring two tables at the Presidential Career Summit taking place on campus the final week of the Winter Term, Jan 24-25. Students participating in this, who live in residence halls, will have to pay to stay in the residence halls, and our sponsorship will go to scholarships to cover that cost for students. International Admissions and Up Magazine are working to Feature International Students and Fashion
Up Magazine, in collaboration with International Admissions, is working on an article featuring international students and the fashion they bring to Miami University. The article hopes to feature 5 to 10 international students from various parts of the world. Featured students will talk about how their home countries/cities has shaped the way that they dress, the kind of style that they like, and how their sense of style embodies their personality. Whether you include traditional wear from your home country, have a more urban wardrobe, or anything in between, we want to hear from you! Chosen participants will take part in a photoshoot. If you are interested in being featured in the article, or would like more information, please contact Fatimata Ndiaye at ndiayefn@MiamiOH.edu
