Dear NYU Students,
Welcome back! We are thrilled to see many of you already settling into campus as you prepare for the start of the semester and discover new and old friends alike. We are ready for you with opportunities to explore all that NYU has to offer, find what you are truly passionate about, and connect with the talented and diverse members of the Violet community. It’s an exciting time.
Many different people come together at NYU — from various places, cultures, and backgrounds — making for a rich and stimulating environment. Indeed, this diversity was one of the many reasons you came to NYU. However, many students have shared that skillfully navigating such a range of perspectives and experiences can sometimes be a bit bumpy, and they would appreciate some help.
We worked closely with students to create the above video that captures our collective support for these efforts, as well as resources about
how members of the NYU community can engage with each other.
At NYU, we hold the highest academic standards but prioritize community building. You’ve gotten to this point in your journey due in no small part to supportive networks of family and friends; we hope to help you build new relationships. Start by joining an
NYU Welcome event (get there via the
NYU Mobile app; use the “Find Your People” filter to target events centered around community and connection).
Once again, welcome back to NYU. If you have a question and don’t exactly know where to go, don’t hesitate to reach out to us in the
Office of the Dean of Students. We look forward to embarking on this year with you and wish you the best as the semester begins.
Best,
