As we enter November and December, it’s a good time to take a moment and remember the importance of mental health, both your own and that of the people around you.
The holidays can often bring an increase in social gatherings, the burden to buy gifts, or just the pressure of needing to be in “the holiday spirit.” According to a survey from the American Psychological Association, 38% of people surveyed reported an increase in stress during the holidays. Increased stress can lead to anxiety, depression, and even physical illness. And for those who may be struggling with mental health already, it can further exasperate existing issues. The National Alliance on Mental Illness notes that 64% of individuals living with mental illness felt that their conditions worsened around the holidays.
