| Let's start our beach trip by visiting alumna Chris Hoffman, who became the first female mayor of Jacksonville Beach.
In 2012, she decided to run for City Council and filed her paperwork before walking across the graduation stage. She then won her election in the fall and joined the pension board, putting her MBA to good use. She served four years, won reelection in 2016, and then decided to run for mayor. In 2020, she won 70% of the vote, soaring toward the mayor’s office.
In her roles, she’s added excitement to the city, including Deck the Chairs and the UNF Seaside Sculpture Park. Learn more.
