AVMA Weighs in on FDA Compounding Guidance

With help from their members, the AVMA submitted a letter to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Aug. 14 that responds to how the agency would regulate compounding animal drugs from bulk drug substances. The FDA is seeking feedback on its list of bulk drug substances by Nov. 16.  Click here for information on submitting comments.

Lacy Upchurch Exits as Tennessee Farm Bureau President
Tennessee Farm Bureau President W. Lacy Upchurch announced Monday he will not seek another term as leader of the nation’s largest farm bureau.
Upchurch was elected in 2005 to lead the farm bureau, which is headquartered in Columbia and employs 700 there, and has been a strong advocate for farming and agriculture in the state. The beef cattle producer, who lives on a farm in Cumberland County with his wife, Kay, was the seventh president in the organization’s 94-year history.  Read more...

To help assist veterinary practices identify new diabetes cases and jump-start management of the disease, the Diabetes Pet Care Alliance™ is rolling out a program in alignment with November’s National Diabetes Month. Formed in 2014 via collaboration between Merck Animal Health, Nestlé Purina PetCare and Zoetis, the Diabetes Pet Care Alliance™ is extending its mission by equipping more veterinary practices with vital tools and resources relating to diabetes awareness.  Beginning October 1, veterinary clinics can enroll to participate in the Diabetes Pet Care Alliance™ by visiting www.usa.petdiabetesmonth.com.
