Important Commencement Information

With Commencement around the corner, we wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate our graduating families. We will forever remember and appreciate the additional hard work and dedication required of you and your student as you overcame the challenging circumstances of this moment in history to earn this special achievement. We celebrate your student and we celebrate YOU for helping them reach this tremendous milestone.

Keep reading to learn more about Commencement and how your student’s loved ones can participate in the celebrations. Please note that the link to the live stream and other links will be available at a later date. We encourage you to visit the Commencement website for the latest updates.

Commencement Box

Each graduating student will receive a Commencement Box with the following items. Students have been asked to complete a Commencement Checklist by Friday, April 16 to ensure their receipt of this box.
  • Cap with Tassel & Gown
  • Diploma Cover
  • UP Stole of Gratitude
  • Commencement Programs
  • A few other fun surprises!

Commencement Programs for Parents

Due to the ongoing pandemic, you may not be with your graduate on Commencement day. To aid in your celebration, we are sending you a few copies of the Commencement Program. These will be mailed to your address on file. If you have not received the programs by Monday, May 3, please reply to this email so that we can get additional programs sent to you.
*If you have an international address, we will send the programs with the best shipping method possible and cannot guarantee a delivery window. A digital copy of the program will be posted on the Commencement website closer to the date of the ceremony.

Pre-Commencement Graduate Recognition Event

As announced last month, an in-person Pre-Commencement Recognition Event will take place outdoors on Friday, May 7, giving graduating students an opportunity to don regalia, hear their name read aloud, and take socially distanced photographs with the President, Provost and their academic dean. No guests will be allowed due to state and county restrictions, but friends and family will be able to watch virtually. The link will be available on the Commencement website.

Baccalaureate Mass

Baccalaureate Mass is scheduled for Sunday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher and will be streamed on the Campus Ministry YouTube Channel.  In person attendance is limited and will be reserved for Graduates only. Graduates can sign up here to note their interest in attending in person.
