Happy June!

Though many activities on campus have wound down for the summer, a plethora of postdocs are still here on campus, whether working in the lab, writing grant proposals or preparing to transition to the next career step.

This June, we offer a guided tour of the Brackenridge Field Lab, celebrate the graduating cohort of the first Postdoctoral Teaching Academy and announce the incoming cohort of Early Career Scholars. These opportunities from our Office are a great way to connect with postdocs across campus as you continue your professional development.

Postdoctoral Teaching Academy Graduates First Cohort of Fellows

Congratulations to the pilot cohort of 18 postdoctoral scholars who completed the inaugural Postdoctoral Teaching Academy in 2025-2026. Certificates were presented at a lunch on Wednesday, May 14, 2026.

As part of the program, postdoctoral scholars had an opportunity to build teaching competencies, apply skills in a teaching session, prepare components of a teaching portfolio, and receive mutual support from postdocs across disciplines as they worked to achieve their teaching goals.

Join the UT Austin Postdoctoral Association to hike a hidden gem trail along the Colorado River.

This is a great opportunity to enjoy a refreshing morning outdoors, learn about cutting-edge research in biodiversity and connect with fellow postdocs outside the lab.

If you can’t make the tour, you’re welcome to join us for the lunchtime social at Maudie's (2608 W 7th Street) around 11 a.m.

Come prepared with water, sun protection, close-toed sturdy shoes and full covered pants as the tour includes walking on uneven terrain. Free parking is available near the lab. Friends, families and kids are welcome, and for safety reasons, we recommend the tour for children ages 5 and up (no strollers).

Announcing the 2026 Cohort of Early Career Scholars

The Early Career Scholars Program prepares fellows interested in exploring academic careers for the academic job market through a comprehensive training program.

In Fall 2026, 26 postdoctoral scholars across 16 academic disciplines will join a campus-wide professional network of future academics for workshops that allow them to gain a better understanding of an academic career.
