On April 3, The University of Texas at Arlington ushered in a new era of academic excellence with the groundbreaking of its new satellite campus, UTA West. Located on 51 acres of property within the Walsh Ranch development on the border of west Fort Worth and Parker County, UTA West will bring all the benefits of a top-tier research university to Fort Worth and Parker County, two of the fastest-growing regions in the country.

The groundbreaking ceremony featured officials from UTA and Walsh Companies, local government and business leaders, and community members. In her opening remarks, UTA President Jennifer Cowley called UTA West “the right idea, in the right place, at the right time.” 

Texas has the most rural residents of any state, with nearly 3 million people spread across a vast landscape. Yet rural Texans face significant barriers to health care. To address these growing challenges, UT Arlington introduced its new Mobile Simulation Lab last week. It’s the first in Texas dedicated solely to rural training.

NASA recently awarded a $1 million grant through its University Leadership Initiative to a team from the UTA Research Institute in Fort Worth to address safety in autonomous aviation. The project aims to make future air mobility vehicles smarter and safer by equipping them with advanced technology to handle unexpected events and emergencies.
